Tour of Langkawi

Hot times

First thing that comes to mind here in Malaysia is the word hot! The tropical heat is something else, although we have all settled into things fairly quickly and the team are now in full on tour racing mode.

Couldn't of asked for a better start with 6th place in the opening stage one 20km TT. There's one major climbing stage, the day to Genting Highlands, which I'm super amped up for. At 10 stages long and some big teams here it's a different level of competitive racing, but one I'm really enjoying.

PureBlack Racing team have been great with all their support. Big thanks to Sam Bewley for navigating me around the bunch all day yesterday.

Sorry about the short update, but the daily routine is now pretty much confined to wake, eat, race, eat, nap, eat, sleep! Will have more in-depth reports later on.

Thanks for reading.

A New Journey Begins

Time Trial

Really proud to debut for Pure Black Racing tonight with a 24km time trial around the Liverton Road circuit in Lower Hutt hosted by the Wellington Veterans Cycle Club.

Set the fastest time on this course three years ago (30:32) and equalled the record again tonight, to the second! The new Avanti Chrono time trial bike is a wicked fast machine. Thanks to the boys at Capital for fine tuning my new road and time trial bikes on such late notice today.

Ricoh NZ have signed up as my personal sponsor which I'm very grateful for. Huge thanks to Mike Pollok and Craig Loveridge for helping me on my journey as a professional cyclist.

Also, a big thanks to Armstrong Sport for continuing to keep my feet comfortable and supported with some of the best shoes in the business, love my Mavic's! And also for my previous ride – Pinarello Paris, a great riding and performing bike.

Last minute preparations are now underway for Tour of Langkawi which I'm really looking forward to. Will be fantastic to race abroad with good mates and be part of a Kiwi team.

Stay posted for updates.

Training, Training, Training...

Moonshine Hill

Training is going well at the moment, motivation is high and with goals in place now thanks to Bike NZ/PBR team being all systems go it's coming together nicely.

Nearly at the end of an endurance block (thanks to coach Silas!) which means long days in the saddle. It's always good to break up the big ones riding with my mates and while I was in Wellington over the long weekend I knocked up a couple of rides with the Meo GP boys. Good times...
