Taupo Classic Podium

Great weekend away at Taupo with Ricoh and Meo GP Racing Team boys. Stayed at Tomo and Barney's bach which was good times... never a dull moment with Jono and Tosh around.

Pulled out a third place which I'm really happy with coming off a big block of volume work. Rode across to Michael Torckler on the Kuratau climb which is approximately half way into the 160km race. Worked well together, but as we hit Hatepe Michael turned into a motorbike and took off... what a machine! Was then joined by Mike Northey and Andy Hagan who had broken clear of the main peloton.

Coming into the finish Mike could sit on in the knowledge that his team mate was up the road and jumped clear to take second place. Congratulations to the Pure Black boys for taking first and second.

Joe & Lovers

A huge thanks to my sponsors Ricoh who are now looking after me in conjunction with Armstrong Sport and Meo GP Racing Team. Mike, Lovers (Ricoh) and Rick, Backy (Armstrong Sport), the GP boys. It means a lot not to just have financial but moral support to ride as a full time athlete.

The Pinarello Paris was humming on Saturday along with the new 2012 Mavic Zxellium shoes which are super stiff and comfy. See the Armstrong Sport dealer page to find your local retailer and snap up a pair of the new shoes or check out the Pinarello's.

Ricoh hosted a banquet dinner on Saturday night and laid it on. A nice surprise from Mike and Lovers was the icing on the cake, much appreciated. Sunday dawned to a mint day and an easy 1.5 hours with the boys in the sun followed up by a coffee stop at Replete. Perfect post-race recovery session.

Some photos from the weekend below...

Thanks for reading. JC.
